1.3 The Musical Alphabet

Understanding the musical alphabet is going to be paramount for accelerating your guitar skills.

Think of music theory as your foundational map for playing the guitar. Once you understand the map pretty well, you can start exploring without worry about the map any more, developing your own routes and shortcuts.

But for now, understand the map :)



Big take aways from this lesson:

  1. The musical alphabet is cyclical and keeps going around from A to G
  2. Between notes we have another degree of notes know as sharps (#) and flats (b)
  3. We don't have a sharp or flat between E and F, nor B and C
