Chord diagrams explained
Learn how to read chord diagrams is key to remembering shapes.
Remember, the guitar is very much a shape and pattern based instrument. It may seem difficult at the start but soon you will come to realise the repetitive nature of the instrument.
Important notes from this lesson:
- The left side of the diagram is always the 6th string (thickest string) of the guitar
- The circles (O) and crosses (X) above the frets are markers that you play the string or not
- The numbers on the markers represent your finger numbers eg, 1 is your index finger and 4 is your pinky
- Although you may see chord diagrams that look a little different to these ones, this is the most common way used universally
